From Ginofreo Quesada, Saudi Arabia, January 1, 2009 To My Classmates of SPA Batch 64 Good day to all of you my classmates of SPA Batch 64! Finally we have decided to organize ourselves and make our batch visible to our fellow alumni of St. Philomena’s Academy, as well as to the present populace of our Alma Mater. As your Class President, on which the responsibility of organizing the first reunion since our graduation, I have requested one of our classmates, Minerva Alcaide, who is now Mrs. Caburnay, to contact our immediately visible classmates. Minnie as she is popularly called, have been very active in the media, being a publisher, radio host, and writer, and being holder of various functions. Minnie’s present capacity qualifies her to lead the reunion organizing. I am presently working in Saudi Arabia, and for years my vacation schedule did not synchronize with our town fiesta, when alumni homecomings are scheduled. I can feel how you, from abroad going home for the town fiesta and those based in town, feel when others annually hold reunions, while we do not. So, with Minnie’s help we are moving on. She is based in Dagupan, but Remedios Paragas, who is now the wife of ex-Kgd. Eugenio Estaris, who is Minnie’s close friend, is helping her coordinate with our classmates in Pozorrubio. I asked Minnie to get the list of our Batch 64 from Ms Susana Obejera, who offered to help us when I texted her. Together with my wife, Engracia Salcedo, and Magdalena Ferrer and Segundo Saranilla, they were to contact our other classmates and hold a small get-together in my residence at 291 Bobonan. They were joined by our balikbayan classmates, Gamaliel Eleno and wife Teresita Banda (cousin of the Mrs Pozorrubio 2009), and Alfredo Almeron and his wife. Some, who promised to come, were not able to attend. Please see the group’s photo in our town website, Pozorrubio Online Portal ( http://quetech.dyndns.org/poz-online and in this new site, http://www.ginque.com ). The day before Gamaliel and Teresita departed from Hawaii for the Philippines, I had long distance talk ( Hawaii-Saudi Arabia) with Gamaliel, my balae. I asked him to contact Minerva upon arrival in the Philippines to assist in organizing a get-together. Well, on their first encounter, they did not recognize each other. During the meeting in my residence, I was able to talk to them one-by-one. I told them about our first project, among others lined up, which is a writing contest. I told them that, if others will be known for sponsoring singing contest, beauty contest, sports tournament, we will be known for sponsoring projects of the intellect. This project will be jointly sponsored by my family business, Quesada e-Technologies, and Pozorrubio Online, which is also my creation. Pozorrubio Online, will be venue where to publish the contest, and the article-entrees. Owing to the small turn-out during the get-together, the group decided to meet again in Paraiso Resort, by the bridge between Pozorrubio and Binalonan on January 15, 2009. This encounter will be a continuation of the kumustahan, and preliminary discussion of our projects. The writing project will be finalized in May, 2009, during my vacation, and thereafter launched in the same month. The project will be monitored in Pozorrubio Online. To my Classmates of Batch 64, I enjoin you to participate in the January 15, 2009 reunion, which will be followed again by another one in May, 2009, in my residence during my vacation. Let us offer prayers to our classmates who passed away without seeing our reunions. God bless us all! Ginofreo (Gin) Quesada Class President, Batch 64 |
